Teachers look away from her as if they see nothing wrong. Neighbors don’t even seem to hear her as she screams for help. By the time someone notices her predicament, it will be too late.

Tom, a seventy-year-old man living on the streets, visits a cafe daily to see a special waitress. She is disgusted with him and wont allow him to stay unless he buys something. Although he comes every day he never has the courage to talk to her and she never gives him the time of day. Little does she know that this vagrant is her father.

Little boy wants to spend time with dad and wants to grow up to be just like his dad but his dad never has time for him and keeps putting him off. When the boy is grown, the roles are reversed and now his dad wants to talk to him and spend time with him but he is too busy. The little boy has become his dad and neither one got what they wanted.

The youngest child of Emma Jean Gadd received a phone call to get home quick to see dying mother before she passes away. He speeds through the night to get to her bedside, but he is too late and doesn’t have a chance to say goodbye.

Plot:

A school girl who is trapped in an abusive home and nobody seems to care. She wishes that she was never born than have to bear this secret burden she cant escape from.

The girl packs her own lunch, wears the same clothes to school, hides her bruises and pain, and tries to rise above this world she lives in where nobody cares or notices. Her dreams give her wings to place and take her to a place where she can be loved as a concrete angel while remaining as hard as stone during the abuse.

Theme:

Abuse is damaging to the soul.

Ignoring the abuse, or keeping it a secret, can contribute to someone's fate.

Setting:

Walk way to school and school classroom.

In the middle of the night at home.

A place she goes to in her dreams.

Gravestones on the hill,

so many names,

so many lives,

gone.

It's not the date of birth

or of death

that matters.

It's the dash engraved between

death and birth that counts the most.

How do we choose to fill our dash

of life?

With sadness and fear,

or happiness and peace.

With meaningful relationships,

or bitterness and loneliness.

Will we have regrets

and unfulfilled dreams,

or will we have accomplished

our hearts desires.

Gravestones on the hill

marking life's lost,

but not erasing memories

left behind.
